What is SWAS? (Steam and Water Analysis System)

A Steam and Water Analysis System (SWAS) is a critical system in power plants designed to monitor and control the purity of steam and water across the boiler and turbine cycle.

Purpose of SWAS:

  • Protect boilers, turbines, and pipelines from corrosion and deposits
  • Ensure operational safety and performance
  • Comply with international water chemistry standards
  • The SWAS skid takes continuous samples from key points in the cycle and conditions them through coolers, filters, and flow regulators before reaching analyzers such as:
✅ pH
✅ Conductivity (Specific / Cation / Degassed)
✅ Silica
✅ Sodium
✅ Dissolved Oxygen
✅ Chloride
✅ Phosphate
✅ TOC


These analyzers continuously send data to the DCS or monitoring system for real-time control and compliance.
